Enabling receipt of emergency alerts on your mobile device(s) is an effective way to be informed and prepared. Public safety officials use Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs), which are short messages, accompanied by a unique notification sound and vibrations, to relay emergency information in a locally targeted area. WEAs do not require sign up or subscription, and they will not disrupt calls, texts or data. Enable or verify receipt of WEAs by navigating to a device's "Settings", then "Notifications". For more information, visit FEMA.
